Penn Parents of the Class of 2002 Support Quad Renovations
For students residing in Ware College House, life has gotten a little better-and they have the parents of the Class of 2002 to thank for it.
In celebration of the graduation of their sons and daughters, parents of the Class of 2002 contributed close to $235,000 to support renovations to Ware's lobby, lounge, house office, conference room, and mailroom-common areas essential to the daily life of Ware residents
This year's gift adds to the already impressive legacy Penn senior parents are leaving at the University. Since 1999 when the senior parents gift program was launched, the parents of Penn's graduating classes have contributed to a range of projects designed to support priorities in undergraduate life.
Response from this year's parents was impressive, with 250 senior parents participating and total gifts exceeding the project goal by almost $35,000.
Senior Parents Project Co-Chair Roger Winston, W'60, PAR'02, who confesses to having "a warm spot" in his heart for Penn, has participated in a number of alumni projects, but found this one especially compelling. For him and his wife, Dale, who co-chaired the effort, the senior parents gift allowed them to support the University while "paying tribute to our son's days at Penn."
The Senior Parents Project is just one of the many ways that Penn parents are playing an increasingly important role in strengthening the University community. With parent participation at an all-time high, the Parents Program is slated for significant expansion in the years ahead.
