Dorrance Hill Hamilton made a $1 million contribution to support construction of a new entrance drive to the Bloomfield Farm section of the Morris Arboretum, where she serves on the Advisory Board of Managers. The Entrance Drive was part of the original master plan for the Arboretum created in 1977. With this gift, Dodo Hamilton is paving the way for a new horticultural center and enhanced facilities for the Morris Arboretum.

The Class of 1952 raised $250,000 for the School of Social Work's Center for Children's Policy, Practice, and Research. The gift will support a new Dedicated Clinical Assessment Center that will allow faculty and associates to provide detailed clinical evaluations on site. Joanne T. Welsh, CW'52, a member of the Reunion Committee, is on the School's Board of Overseers. The Center for Children's Policy, Practice, and Research has been further strengthened by a gift of $100,000 from CCPPR Advisory Board members Joseph Field, C'52, and Marie Field, who is also a member of the School of Social Work's Board of Overseers.

Meiklejohns Contribute $6 Million to New Health and Fitness Center
William W., W'42, and Louise Meiklejohn, have given $6 million to the David Pottruck Health and Fitness Center, a 115,000-square-foot multi-purpose activity area for the entire Penn community.

Steve Bilsky, W'71, Director of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics, is thrilled. "Through their philanthropy," he said, "Bill and Louise Meiklejohn have placed a high priority on impacting the lives of Penn students. We are so grateful that they have joined Dave Pottruck in supporting our vision to create a state-of-the-art building that will provide students and the University community with a unique setting to combine social and recreational opportunities."

Beginning this fall, health-conscious Penn people will enjoy a vast array of recreational programs and facilities, including informal recreation, fitness/wellness programming, intramural sport, sport clubs, and instructional classes. The Pottruck Center includes the Katz Cardiovascular Center, the 40-foot Entreprises Climbing Wall, the Sheerr Pool, Gimbel Gym, a Golf Center, a spinning room, and a magnificent atrium, featuring a juice bar and pro shop.
