Recent Gifts
Wharton European Board member Jeffrey
Weingarten, W'70, and his wife, Susan
Weingarten, a member of the Student Disabilities
Services Advisory Board, have made
a $1 million gift to establish The Weingarten
Family Program for Student Disabilities
Services. The new program will allow the
University to bring the Learning Resources
Center and Student Disabilities Service under
one roof, significantly enhancing services to
students with special needs. The gift, say the
Weingartens, reflects their "commitment to
seeing that Penn students with learning disabilities
receive the help they need to
achieve academic success."
A splendid gift from Ellen Kohn, C'76, L'79, and her mother, Edith
Kohn, to the Graduate School of Education honors their late father
and husband, Harold Kohn, C'34, L'37, by establishing a teacher
sabbatical program at the School. The Harold E. Kohn Teacher Sabbatical
Program will support Philadelphia teachers in short-term sabbaticals,
residencies, and professional projects to strengthen their skills
in specific areas.
