A Grateful Alumnus Shares His Penn Story
"I can only imagine the host of stories like
mine that have been possible because Penn was there and Penn cared." --Philip Nelson, M.D.
Philip K. Nelson, M.D., C'48, M'52, GM'58, a loyal alumnus who has always participated in annual giving, is celebrating his 50th Medical School reunion with a pledge of $25,000. He says he has a lot to celebrate. Coming to Penn as a recipient of the Edward G. Pendelton Scholarship, he joined the marching band, toured in Mask and Wig, joined ROTC and a fraternity, was elected into Phi Beta Kappa, met his future wife, and went on to the Medical School, where, once again, "tuition
assistance made all the difference."
"I have never failed to appreciate what Penn has meant in shaping
my life," he wrote. I will always be deeply grateful to Penn and
can only add Hail Pennsylvania, and Hurrah for the Red
and the Blue."
