October 2008 Dear Penn Alumni, We often hear questions and discussion among alumni about the Admissions process, and alumni comment how much Penn's selectivity has changed since they applied. Acknowledging the stress and anxiety that may surround the process, we are writing to share some helpful information. All Penn alumni, especially those like you who continue to serve Penn in some capacity, are ambassadors of this University, in your workplace, in your community, or wherever you go. Secondary Schools Committee members play a special role for Penn, reaching out in a personal way to Penn's prospective students. These efforts surely contribute to the success of Penn Admissions and we'd like to extend you our deepest gratitude. When Penn experiences success, gains recognition and grows in prestige, it is due in no small part to our alumni ambassadors around the globe. Click here to view the Admissions annual newsletter, reflecting on the most recent selection cycle, and commenting on some ventures we face in the current admissions cycle. Also, here is a postcard which recently introduced the Alumni Council on Admissions to about 6,000 Penn Alumni known to have children in high school. Some received this by email, others by mail. Please feel free to share all of the enclosed information with your fellow Penn Alumni. Along with many exciting programs during Homecoming Weekend (October 31 through November 2), there will be a special informational session about Penn admissions, designed specifically for our alumni volunteers. You may frequently face difficult questions from friends, neighbors and classmates about Penn admissions. This session will discuss various considerations of Penn's selection process, and thereby equip you to handle those challenging questions. For more information or to attend this session, please click here. Again, we thank you for all of the ways you continue to serve your alma mater, and we look forward to strengthening the partnership between Penn and our alumni. Sincerely,
