Legacy Advising Sessions

Legacy Advising Sessions are informal sessions that allow prospective legacy applicants and alumni to understand more about the ACA, Penn's application process, and the college search process in general.

Legacy Advising Sessions do not replace the Admissions Information Sessions.  Our colleagues in Admissions give a wonderful introduction to Penn and the application process.  Our discussion in the ACA complements the information covered by the Admissions Office.  The ACA has observed the selection process, and we openly discuss its many nuances.  In sharing our insight, we hope legacies will further research Penn and other college options, and thereby strengthen various components of their application.  When we meet students in their earlier years of high school or even in middle school, we are able to offer valuable advice about academic preparation and extracurricular choices.

These advising sessions are held throughout the year and are open to any alumni family thinking about the college process. Since the ACA has informative academic and application advice, our resources are most helpful before an application has been submitted to Penn. Reservations are not required.

Legacy Advising Sessions are held at the Sweeten Alumni House, 3533 Locust Walk:

  • Monday through Friday at 12:15 PM and 3:15 PM (except University holidays*)

  • Monday and Friday additional sessions will be offered at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

  • Saturdays in the fall at 1:15 PM (beginning after Labor Day, Sept 12, 2009, continuing through the third Saturday of November, Nov 21, 2009)

  • Offered throughout the summer and on many school holidays. Extra sessions will be added to keep the setting small and personal.

  • Additional sessions will be available during Homecoming and Alumni Weekend.

These advising sessions follow the Admissions information sessions and campus tours, which we highly encourage you to attend.
