When ALA began its effort to raise funds for a scholarship to support talented Latino undergraduates at Penn, we knew we had embarked on an important project, but we had no idea how far-reaching our effort would become. We are amazed by the enthusiasm and generosity of Penn's Latino community. Having exceeded our initial goal of $100,000 within two years, we quickly set our sights even higher -- $200,000, enough to support two scholarships.

Today, we can proudly claim more than 165 donors, whose combined contributions totaled $242,697.67 as of June 30, 2008. In the 2008-2009 school year, the invested funds generated $15,148.61 in aid that was awarded to our scholarship recipients. This amount has grown steadily over the past five years, and every additional contribution will continue to benefit future scholars. In all, the educations of eleven talented Latino students at Penn have been made possible, in part, by the ALA Scholarships. Below is a list of all our scholarship recipients.
