PURPOSE AND GOALS OF ALUMNI CLUBS

A vital network of University of Pennsylvania alumni clubs throughout the nation and around the world maintains and strengthens the relationship between the University and its alumni.

Regional alumni associations further the welfare and best interests of the University and work toward these main goals:

  1. to serve as a channel of communication between the individual graduate and the contemporary University of Pennsylvania;
  2. to provide service to the University;
  3. to renew and broaden University of Pennsylvania fellowship through social and intellectual activities of common interest, and to foster mutually beneficial relationships among alumni of all schools regardless of race, color, sex, sexual or affectional preference, age, religion, national or ethnic origin or handicap;
  4. to foster cooperative relationships among alumni, current students, parents, and other members of the University of Pennsylvania family who are residents or visitors to the region;
  5. to increase the level of financial support for the University;
  6. to guide outstanding students to the University;
  7. to enhance the prestige of the University by promoting its educational achievements and the achievements of its alumni in the local community.

An alumni club succeeds to the extent that it achieves its purpose. When club events are attended by diverse groups of alumni, when well-qualified students of the regions choose to apply to Pennsylvania, when alumni of the regions choose to apply to Pennsylvania, when alumni of the region provide financial support to the University, and when media coverage indicates a club is playing a significant role in its community -- then a club can begin to measure its success.
