The Association of Native Alumni is pleased to present the recipient of the ANA Student Leadership Award. The award recognizes a Native senior who has demonstrated leadership, advanced diversity at Penn through student activities or community service, and exemplifies excellence.
The first ANA Student Leadership Award was presented to Elaine
Bretschneider, C'07 on April 27, 2007. Elaine graduated from The College with a major in Anthropology. As a student, Elaine's diligent leadership in Six Directions, Penn's Native American student organization, promoted the spread and inclusion of Native American culture on campus. Elaine worked with the local Lenape community, helping them to record their oral histories. Through her persistence and hard work, Penn was the proud host of the 2007 Spring All-Ivy Native Council Annual Conference.
