Walkway and Bridge
Honoring Our Tradition

The Women's Walkway and Class of '49 Generational Bridge, a renovation of the Class of '49 Bridge (at 38th Street), was unveiled during the 125 Years of Women at Penn celebration.

As part of the Celebration, Penn has created a special walkway that will allow you to permanently recognize a woman who has made Penn history — a Penn alumna.

Donors are invited to designate stone "pavers" that can be inscribed with the name and class of any Penn alumna, connecting with others to form a gracefully curving walkway leading to the newly restored Class of '49 Generational Bridge. When completed, this unique path will serve as an enduring tribute to Penn alumnae and our many contributions to the University's history.

The Class of '49 Generational Bridge
For many families, Penn is more than a university — it's a tradition. Now you can honor that tradition with a gift to the Class of '49 Generational Bridge.

Donors are invited to designate stone pavers, light rods, and vine columns that can be inscribed with the names of Penn alumni — women and men — who represent a family's proud Penn legacy. Just as the bridge over 38th Street connects the historic part of campus to the emerging Hamilton Village, the Class of '49 Generational Bridge will connect one generation of Penn families to the next, representing Penn's legacy — its ties to the past and its hopes for the future.

Many Ways to Give
There are many ways to support the Celebration. Donors can reserve space on the Women's Walkway and Class of '49 Generational Bridge for $5,000, $10,000, or $25,000; space on the Class of '49 Generational Bridge Founder's Gate can be reserved for $100,000. All those who give over $500 will be named "Sponsors" and will be included in an Honor Roll of contributors, which will be located in a prominent place on campus.

Gifts to the Celebration of 125 Years of Women at Penn helped to support the two-day event and funded the redesign of the Class of '49 Bridge at 38th Street. Monies are also being dedicated to an endowed scholarship fund, which will help future students realize their dreams of a Penn education.
