Dear Classmates,

Greetings to the Class of 1980! I'm privileged to assume the role of Class President, and want to salute Stacey Rosner Lane for her extraordinary work on behalf of the class for so many years. Stacey has graciously accepted the role of Chair of the Penn Fund Executive Board, so she is continuing to give her time and talent to Penn. We are grateful for all her efforts, and thank her for all that she has done on behalf of our class.

There is a great deal of excitement at Penn these days, and I'd like to share some of the most prominent recent news. The eastward expansion of campus, dubbed Penn Connects, offers new opportunities for Penn to engage the broader Philadelphia community. Read all about the plans at www.evp.upenn.edu. Penn has taken great strides to make education accessible to students of diverse economic backgrounds; beginning this fall, grants will replace loans for students from high-need families earning less than $60,000. And Penn's own Drew Gilpin Faust was tapped to become the first female president of Harvard!

You can reconnect with your alma mater by joining alumni from around the globe at Alumni Weekend. The festivities this year are Friday May 11 and Saturday May 12.
