Class of 1990,

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but babies born during the fall of our freshman year are, at this moment, waiting to hear if they have been granted admission to Penn! Makes one want to drink a highball, or six. Well, instead (or if you prefer, afterwards), consider the following ways to stay connected to our alma mater this year:

Reclaim Your Youth at Alumni Weekend
Show those young whippersnappers that your muscles haven't atrophied, your minds haven't closed, and most importantly, that you have not become part of a clichéd 80's television show by returning to campus for Alumni Weekend, May 14-16. Yes, I know it is our 14th, but consider it training for 2005. Keep on the lookout for updated information and schedules.

Donate a Building
Okay, so maybe this is not a part of your short-term philanthropic goals. But it is never too early to start planning. At the very least, check out the amazing transformation that has taken place since our commencement and that continues as part of the Campus Development Plan. If you can't see it in person (hmm, another reason to come to Alumni Weekend?), check it out at www.facilities.upenn.edu/whatsNew/campusdev.php3. The following are a few milestones achieved in the past year alone:

· Hill Square: Hill Field has been transformed into Hill Square, complete with a beautiful new walkway, granite benches, striking landscaping, lighting, and a sculpture honoring the anniversary of 125 Years of Women at Penn.

· Engineering School: The Melvin J. and Claire Levine Hall, dedicated on April 9, 2003, conveniently links the Towne and Moore buildings. The building, designed by architect James Timberlake (who, I understand, has taken steps to ensure no "wardrobe malfunctions" on the premises), is home to the Department of Computer and Information Science.

· Hillel: The new Hillel Center, Steinhardt Hall, was dedicated on Thursday, October 23, 2003, and is located in Superblock between Walnut Street and Locust Walk on 39th Street. Learn more at dolphin.upenn.edu/~hillel/

Become the Next President
Well, I guess it's a little late for that. Amy Gutmann, the Provost and Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University, has been nominated by the Executive Committee of Penn’s Board of Trustees to succeed Dr. Judith Rodin when she steps down this June. To read more, follow this link: Penn names presidential nominee. For more information on Dr. Rodin's legacy, check out www.upenn.edu/pennnews/rodin_legacy/.

Become the Envy of Your Classmates
Have you done something interesting in the last 14 years? Know someone who has? We are changing the format of newsletters to include more in-depth profiles of class members. Whether you have fulfilled your destiny or embarked on something totally alien to your goals at Penn, your classmates would like to know. Send a few paragraphs to me at kyle.kozloff@alumni.upenn.edu with "1990 Profile" in the subject line, and we'll take it from there. Of course, your "I had a baby/left my job/painted the bathroom" news is still welcome. Just don't send it to me. Instead, visit the class notes section of the Online Community, where you can submit and read news and notes ad infinitum.

If you've tried the above and are still having trouble reconnecting, spend an afternoon with VH1, where the 80's are in full effect.

Here's a toast to Dear Old Penn!
