Fellow Members of the Class of 1990:

I am reaching out to you with a very important request. I am asking each of you to make a commitment, right now, to attend our 15th reunion this spring. I'm serious. Don't get lazy. Write it down now. Take this letter over to your computer or calendar, and block out May 13-15, 2005.

Now, some of you are thinking, "Kyle, it is our 15th reunion. Why the pressure?" Let me give you a few reasons:

1) We are getting older! This is the last time we will be able to celebrate together as thirtysomethings. I've seen the forty-two and forty-seven year olds "dancing" at their reunions. It's not a pretty sight. Believe me.

2) Let's reflect on our 10th reunion. An explosion that snarled traffic from New York to Philly, leaving many of you unable to attend. A torrential downpour on Saturday that led to a cancellation of the Alumni Day Parade. If ever there were justification for a reunion "do-over," this is it.

3) This happens once every half decade. How can we not be able to make a commitment to see each other for two and a half days once every five years?

What it really boils down to is the following: This experience is only made special by your presence. It is the energy that we create when we are together reminiscing, remembering, reliving, renewing, that transforms a weekend visit to campus into an unforgettable moment in our lives. We owe it to ourselves to be able to enjoy that once in awhile.

So, whether you live in New York and feel that you already see a lot of Penn people in the city, whether you live in California and feel that it is just too far to travel, whether you've got three kids and just can"t figure out how to manage things, get over it! Phone or e-mail five or ten friends and make a commitment to each other to be on campus in May. With your participation, it will be a weekend to remember.

See you in May!
Kyle S. Kozloff
President, Class of 1990

Over the next few months you'll be receiving additional information about Alumni Weekend activities and where to stay over the weekend. Much of this will be delivered via our class reunion website and e-mail. Stay tuned!
