class notes

Fellow '95ers,

There are many changes to report both at Penn and amongst our classmates. During the production of this winter web letter, we received a record number of news notes and have decided to host a new permanent class notes page. Now everyone can submit their updates as they happen, and you'll be able to access and view updated news notes all year long. All you have to do is log in with a username and password, and you'll be able to submit and view news notes for all alumni classes. I promise you won't get spammed by signing up. Just click on the class notes link to the right and you'll be on your way. News notes submitted for this cycle of the newsletter can be viewed by clicking on the "Recent News Notes" link on the right.

- Alumni Weekend 2004
Alumni Weekend will take place May 14-16. The Alumni Day Picnic and Parade of Classes will take place on Saturday May 15, with Commencement taking place on Monday, May 17. - Halls, Squares, and a Superblock update!
The former Hill Field, the area between 33rd and 34th streets and Walnut and Chestnut streets has been transformed into Hill Square. On November 7, 2003, during Homecoming, a dedication celebrating the unveiling of the Women's Sculpture Project took place. A gift from alumnae in honor of the anniversary of 125 Years of Women at Penn, the project has transformed Hill Field, bringing a beautiful new walkway, granite benches, and striking landscaping and lighting to this vital campus gateway.

The transformation of Hamilton Village (a.k.a. Superblock) has begun. A six-year project to install sprinklers, upgrade elevators, and make structural repairs on the three high-rise residences began in the summer of 2002 and is well underway.

The new Hillel Center, Steinhardt Hall, was dedicated on Thursday, October 23, 2003. Steinhardt Hall, the new home of Penn Hillel, is a wonderful state-of-the-art Hillel facility with comfortable lounges, meeting rooms, Internet access, a Judaic library, a TV room and a Beit Midrash (Hebrew language study center). The university-run kosher dining program is on the first floor. More information and a virtual tour is available at: dolphin.upenn.edu/~hillel/

Engineering School: The Melvin J. and Claire Levine Hall was dedicated at a ceremony and luncheon on April 9, 2003. The building, which conveniently links the Towne and Moore buildings, is now home to the Department of Computer and Information Science. The principal architect for the project was James Timberlake of KieranTimberlake Associates LLP.

Last, here's an early reminder that our 10 year reunion is coming up in May 2005! Stay tuned for more details...
