Dear Classmate,
I hope that the New Year is treating you well and that you were able to take some time off for the holidays. It is that time of the year again for another update as to what has been happening back on Penn's campus.
This past fall semester, students enjoyed the opening of the newest
addition to Penn's campus, Jon M. Huntsman Hall. Its doors were
opened to Wharton students after a two-day celebration on October
25 and 26. Another new addition in November was The Bridge:Cinema
De Lux located at 40th and Walnut Street. The Bridge is more than
just a movie theater and will feature live entertainment, a concierge
service, a wide array of food, and six screens. Check out the
Campus
Development Plan online.
On the Penn athletics front, the men's basketball team started
their season in late November. The season will run through March,
with a hopeful ticket to enter the NCAA March Madness tournament.
Check sports schedules at www.pennathletics.com
or call PennPhone (scores & highlights) at (215) 898-4519. For
those alumni planning to be back on campus and interested in tickets
for a game, contact the Penn Athletic Ticket Office at (215) 898-6151.
Upcoming events in 2003 have Penn's energy focused on Alumni Weekend. This year, Alumni Weekend is on May 16-18. Class specific reunion events will be held on either Friday or Saturday night, while the Picnic and Parade of Classes will take place on Saturday, May 17. For those of you traveling from great distances, contact Fran Abrahamer Rosenstock, CW'62, GED'64, at Monarch Travel, (800) 458-7177 for assistance with travel arrangements to Philadelphia. This year's Alumni Weekend will feature a diverse array of programming for reunion year and non-reunion year alumni. A detailed itinerary of the weekend's activities will be sent out to all alumni in the "Alumni Weekend Guide" as an insert in the March/April issue of the Gazette.
I wish you well for the New Year and look forward to seeing you
back at Penn during Alumni Weekend. In the meantime, please send
any news notes that you may have regarding your whereabouts or
new developments in your life to the alumni office at http://www.upenn.edu/gazette/note.html
-- GO QUAKERS!!!
Sincerely,
Neil Sheth, ENG'97
