Dear Members of the Class of 2004,

As part of the revamped Class of 2004 newsletter, we're going to send you snippets (noteworthy or notorious) of what's going on our dear old Philly campus and with alumni around the world. Hope you enjoy!

Class of '04 Alumni Profile

There are so many of us who have taken the unbeaten path (entrepreneurial, literary, etc.) and we wanted this section to be a venue to show off the talents of some of our '04 superstars at large (and plug their wares at the same time). Take a bow, Kunal Gupta!

Dual degrees in business and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania have given Kunal Gupta an extraordinary ability to not only devise new uses for technology, but also navigate the intricacies of bringing a new product to market.

Having graduated just three years ago, Gupta has an intrinsic understanding of the young adult market. That knowledge coupled with his past successes working in business operations and project management, inspired Gupta to establish Fone2Fone, Inc., a company that specializes in developing networked communities through mobile phones. Noting the enormous success of web-based social networks among 18-24 year olds and finding nothing comparable in the mobile space, Gupta has concentrated his efforts on the launch of Styky, a mobile social networking application designed specifically for college students and young professionals.

Random Penn Facts: Commencement Speakers - Any Method to the Madness?
While 9 out of 10 people say unequivocally that Bono's address to the Class of 2004 was the best Commencement speech in history, as seen here, we've had some stacked guys and gals take the podium: Secretary of State James Baker for 2007 and Jimmy Carter in 1998. See the full list.

Feb Club 2008
Throughout February 2008, Penn Traditions, in collaboration with regional alumni clubs, will host Feb Club, a series of events across the country that give young alumni a chance to reconnect with classmates.

Penn's Making History Campaign and Gala
by Michelle Carter

On October 20th, I sat amongst 1500+ other Penn Alums to listen to Amy Gutmann and others (including Governor Ed Rendell, James Riepe and George Weiss) officially kick off Making History: The Campaign for Penn. It was an incredible experience to listen to the leaders of Penn's community describe the future of the University and how reaching the goal of $3.5 billion was already well underway (as $1.6 billion had been received by October 20th). Penn plans to use the money to make several campus improvements including new athletic facilities around Franklin Field and more green space, increase financial aid, and be able to attract more professors to the University as well as several other projects.

The Making History campaign is traveling around the world over the next several months to various cities to spread the message. It's a very ambitious goal; however, it's clear that the University has the drive and will to make it happen. Learn more about Making History: The Campaign for Penn.

Suggestions? Class notes!
Submit your own class note! See something Penn-related that's noteworthy to share in our newsletter? We want to encourage any and all classmates to take an active role in our class newsletter. If you or a classmate you know has recently done something exciting, traveled, or just has some terrific news to share, please let us know! Starting a new job? Getting married? We want to know and share what you are up to! We know you all enjoy reading about your friends — and they would love to read about you! Our goal is to promote communication among classmates by personalizing the newsletters and generating enthusiasm in future class programming.

We're also looking to revamp our class website and gather information that will be useful to you. We would like to find and create information and notes that will be useful for you, whether it be job opportunities, getting in touch with old classmates, or putting a profile of you so your friends know what you are up to! Send your ideas, profiles, and notes to Bryan Chao at bryan@alumni.upenn.edu.

Call for New Penn Fund Committee Members
Interested in re-connecting with Penn and our amazing alumni? Can your leadership help make our 5th Reunion a celebration to remember? Is Facebook the only way you remember the names of your Quad hallmates?

The Penn Fund committee is calling all Class of 2004 alumni that want to build our class and alumni community. Our strong team is looking for new volunteers to help classmates connect with each other and with Penn and would involve a few hours of volunteering each month. Please contact Bryan at bryan@alumni.upenn.edu to get involved!
