The Alumni Class Leadership Council (ACLC) -- the governing board for the classes and formerly known as the Organized Classes -- is comprised of volunteer alumni leaders dedicated to strengthening ties between alumni and the University by acknowledging and reinforcing the importance of class affiliation. The board is closely affiliated with Penn Alumni and works closely with Alumni Relations to ensure that classes have active, engaged leadership and to promote and facilitate communication between class leaders and the University.
Specifically, the ACLC's goals are to:
Communicate opportunities and events of interest to alumni and their classes.
Provide undergraduate alumni class officers with support that will enable them to broaden and diversify the ranks of class leadership.
Provide class leaders with information, ideas, suggestions, strategies, recommendations, and support that will enable them to establish and maintain an active and enabled alumni class.
Assist class leaders with developing effective communication strategies, with an emphasis on taking advantage of the ease and immediacy of electronic communication.
Promote the recognition of exceptional alumni classes through an awards program that includes annual recognition such as the Class Award of Merit and the David N. Tyre Class Communications Award.
The ACLC assigns one of its board members to work with the presidents of each alumni class. The ACLC class representative becomes that class's link to ACLC and provides ongoing support and information about university resources as well as the ACLC's programs.
The board meets regularly throughout the year to assist in the development and planning of such events as the Penn Reunion Leadership Conference (PRLC), the Alumni Award of Merit Gala, and Alumni Weekend.
