Class Awards 2006:
Good News & Bad News

---------------------------------
The bad news is that we're only able to give out two class awards at the Alumni Award of Merit Gala on Homecoming Weekend each year.

The good news is that this year there were nominations from eight classes, each of which was outstanding in its own right.

This is the first edition of the "ACLC Update" and we, the Alumni Class Leadership Council( ACLC), hope that its content will prove to be useful and motivating.

This newsletter is written for the dedicated leaders of Penn's undergraduate alumni classes and will not contain material that is included in other communications from Penn (although it may refer to events for which details are provided elsewhere). Its purpose is to provide you with the genesis of ideas for continually enhancing the Penn Alumni experience through class connections. We hope that you'll share this information with your fellow class leaders.

Throughout the summer and fall many classes have been turning over class leadership. No fewer than a dozen classes are in the process of nominating candidates and electing or appointing class officers. It is gratifying to see that many newcomers participated in reunion planning and are now ready to make a five year commitment to serve as a class officer.

I was pleased to see so many class volunteers at Homecoming and in particular the 72nd Alumni Award of Merit Gala. The Warden Garden at the University Museum was transformed into a Moroccan paradise where outstanding alumni, classes and clubs were honored.

I hope you enjoy and benefit from this newsletter, and please email harvehnat@aol.com and let me know what we can do to make the next edition even more valuable.

With Penn-ergy,
Harve Hnatiuk, EE '74
ACLC President
