One of Penn's highest priorities is making the Quad what it was and should be - an exceptionally warm and inviting residential experience. The University is calling upon its alumni, parents, friends - those who know the value of the Quad experience - to support the Quad Renewal Project.

The $75 million Quad Renewal Project includes:
  • Renovating and creating spaces to support College House life. Providing lobbies, computer labs, fitness rooms, music practice rooms, lounges with kitchens, libraries, seminar rooms, and faculty master residences. Fulfilling the original architects' plan for the Quad by opening an additional entrance to the Lower Quad, along Hamilton Walk.

  • Restoring architectural features of these historically landmarked buildings. Cleaning and repointing the brickwork, repairing and restoring the limestone detail, lighting Memorial and Provosts' Towers, and restoring grand stairways and archways.

  • Enhancing the landscape to provide welcoming outdoor spaces. Adding new planting, creating new distinctive courtyards for each College House, ensuring a balance of formal and informal spaces, and installing benches and other outdoor seating.

  • Updating Quad systems. Improving heating, plumbing, and trash removal; installing air-conditioning and elevators; and lighting walkways.
