Did You Know?

Did you know... that Glen Miller was named as the new John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball today at the Palestra? Miller, a former U.Conn assistant who has spent the last seven years as Head Coach at Brown University, replaces Fran Dunphy, who left Penn after 17 years to become Head Coach at Temple University.

"Penn is a special university with a great basketball legacy," said Steve Bilsky, Director of Athletics. "I heard from scores of university presidents, athletic directors and basketball coaches, and the unanimous opinion is that Glen is a person of integrity, sincerity and uncommon coaching acumen."

Glen Miller was recognized in 1998 and 1999 as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Northeast Coach of the Year. Miller earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He and his wife, Yvonne, have four children.

Initially Hey Day was a formal affair; however, in recent years Hey Day has become less formal and is characterized by thousands of marching students parading around campus with skimmer hats, red T-shirts and canes.
