Did You Know... that Steve Stecklow, C'76 is part of a four-person team that recently received the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism? Stecklow and his team-mates, all reporters for the Wall Street Journal, were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for its "creative and comprehensive probe into backdated stock options for business executives," which led to a number of top executives losing their jobs.

Did you know... that Penn Dental's Evans Building is named after the school's first major benefactor, Dr. Thomas W. Evans? Evans lived most of his life on the other side of the Atlantic, in Paris, France. In the latter half of the 19th century, the native Philadelphian built a prestigious dental career, eventually becoming the court-appointed dental surgeon and confidant of Emperor Napoleon III and his wife, the Empress Eugenie. Dr. Evans' contributions to dentistry were the use of vulcanite rubber as a base for dentures and a masterful talent with gold-foil fittings. He also brought the use of nitrous oxide as an anesthetic to Europe.

Did you know... that an upcoming episode of the Food Network's "Dinner: Impossible" will feature Psi Upsilon fraternity brothers from the University of Pennsylvania doing their part to create a feast for Penn President Amy Gutmann and distinguished guests? This week's episode is set in the Psi Upsilon fraternity house, a.k.a. The Castle, a 19th century stone building that overlooks College Green in the middle of Penn's campus. While its baronial living room is spacious enough for the president's dinner for 60, its tiny kitchen is in the basement, at the end of a long, dark hallway and has a broken dumbwaiter and a gas stove with few working burners.
This episode is scheduled to air on the Food Network at 10:30 pm (EST), Wednesday, April 18. Check your local TV listings, as the half-hour show will be rebroadcast on the Food Network throughout the month of April.

Did you know… that Penn's Fisher Fine Arts Library (a.k.a. the Furness Building) has made it onto the American Institute of Architects' recent list of "America's Favorite Architecture?" The Frank Furness masterpiece came in at #54 on a list of 150 public buildings, stately houses, churches and, yes, baseball stadiums that 1,800 or so participants in an online survey chose as their favorite buildings in the U.S.
