Did You Know... that Michael R. Bloomberg, mayor of New York and founder of Bloomberg, L.P., will speak at the 252nd Commencement of the University of Pennsylvania on Monday, May 19th? President Amy Gutmann said that, "his remarkable achievements as a highly successful entrepreneur, noted philanthropist and tireless public servant stand, in the tradition of Penn's founder Ben Franklin, as an inspiration to us all."

In addition to being the Commencement speaker, Bloomberg will join, Paquito D'Rivera, a nine-time Grammy Award winning musician; Drew Gilpin Faust, G'71, GR'75, current Harvard President and former Penn History professor; Lila R. Gleitman, GR'67, Professor Emerita in the fields of linguistics and psychology; Bert W. O'Malley, a cell and molecular biologist; Cyril Ramaphosa, a South African leader against apartheid; and Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist, in receiving an honorary degree.

Did You Know… that this week is Women's Week 2008 at Penn? The Penn Consortium of Undergraduate Women (PCUW) is proud to present a series of twelve events hosted by women's organizations on the undergraduate campus. The scope of this year's program of events is exciting and inspiring and PCUW applauds the collaboration efforts and the diversity of issues and interests represented by participants in Women's Week 2008.

Did you know… that Penn Nursing students partner with a local high school to evaluate elementary students' health? Students at West Philadelphia's Sayre High School who are taking a health-education class have been working with Penn School of Nursing faculty and practitioner students to learn accurate growth and diabetes-risk-factor assessment. They are evaluating children in the Beacon after-school program at Sayre, providing nutrition education and a dance program designed to increase physical activity.
