Did You Know... that students from the Penn's School of Nursing Pediatric Acute/Chronic and Oncology Nurse Practitioner program recently earned first place at the 24th Annual Pediatric Nursing National Conference for their research poster which promotes the reduction of childhood obesity? Megan Sounders-Zobian, GNU'08, and Rebecca Hogan, GNU'08, presented the poster at the national conference, with two students from Sayre High School in West Philadelphia, Princess Carter and LaQuan Williams.

"Working with the community to educate families about childhood obesity is the key to curbing the epidemic," said Terri Lipman, a professor in Penn Nursing who has supervised the project, funded through Penn's Netter Center for Community Partnerships.

Did You Know... that Lee Spelman Doty, W'76, started last week in her new role as President of Penn Alumni? She began a three-year term on July 1, 2008 leading Penn's alumni body of over 290,000 from the undergraduate, graduate and professional schools.

Doty says of her new role, "It's very intimidating to follow in the footsteps of those who've gone before me, including my immediate predecessor Paul Williams, W'67, and past presidents Lenny Shapiro, W'64, and Elsie Sterling Howard, CW'68,... but I'm thrilled to take on this new role."

Doty's many significant involvements on campus have included working to establish the Penn Club of New York, membership in the Trustees Council of Penn Women, serving as a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, sitting on the board of overseers for the Graduate School of Education and Penn Med, and now becoming president of Penn Alumni, the society that represents all of the University's alumni.
