July 27 , 2009 Did You Know... that the $26.9 million George A. Weiss Pavilion project, slated for completion in the spring of 2010, is revamping the north side of Franklin Field? This project will add retail space, an intercollegiate strength and weight training center and the Robert A. Fox Fitness Center for general University use. Did You Know... that the University of Pennsylvania has become the first Ivy League school to partner with The Posse Foundation? The Posse Foundation, which was launched in 1989 and is headquartered in New York City, recruits and trains young people from urban high schools and sends them to top-tier colleges and universities as multicultural groups of 10 called "Posses." Deborah Bial, president and founder of The Posse Foundation, made the announcement this week in Miami that the Miami-Dade County Public Schools will become the seventh public school system participating with the Foundation. Posse Miami will begin recruitment next month and the first Miami Posse will enroll at Penn in September 2010.

Did You Know... that Penn students helped develop a virtual West Philadelphia history museum? An academically based community service course has given Penn students the opportunity to help tell the story of the West Philadelphia neighborhood. The project was spearheaded by Penn Professor of History, Walter Licht.
