Did You Know… that Penn senior Joyce Meng received a Rhodes Scholarship? Meng plans to study economics for development and financial economics while at Oxford next year. She is the only Penn student to earn a Rhodes Scholarship this year, and the first in two years. On campus, she is captain of the debate team and plays ice hockey. She has spent summers working at international finance firms in Taiwan and Hong Kong and last summer, after interning for Goldman Sachs, Meng worked for FINCA International, a micro-finance firm. Meng co-founded Youth Bank, a micro-business incubator that works to provide financial opportunities for urban youth in Nigeria.
Joyce Meng, “really represents the best of Penn," said Provost Ron Daniels. "She's a high achiever, she has a wide range of interests and she cares so much about making the world a better place."

Did You Know... that the Ivy Champion Penn Women's Soccer Team is headed to the 2007 NCAA College Cup Tournament? The Quakers will meet the James Madison University Dukes at 3:30 pm EST on Friday, November 13th at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va., in a first-round match up hosted by West Virginia University.
After learning that the Quakers had drawn the Dukes from the 64-team College Cup field, Head Coach Darren Ambrose said "we have a lot of momentum right now, and we have been playing with a lot of confidence. This is a great opportunity for us, but obviously James Madison is sitting in Harrisonburg thinking the same thing. I anticipate a great match Friday."
