Seldin, whose parents are Penn alumni and whose brother is a Penn freshman, is the first undergraduate to curate an exhibit at Penn's Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology. At Oxford, she plans to do a Masters in materiality and museum ethnology. "I'm really happy that this will bring more attention to my work with the Penn Museum," Seldin said. "In the future, I will use this experience to get involved in examining the politics of museums and the role of museums in civil societies." A University Scholar, Seldin's research about the unknown history of the Lenape tribe -- which was believed to have left Pennsylvania more than 200 years ago -- was integral to her work on the exhibit, "Fulfilling a Prophecy: The Past and Present of the Lenape in Pennsylvania," which opened at the museum in September.

Did You Know... that Johns Hopkins University has just announced that their new president will be Penn Provost Ron J. Daniels? Daniels, 49, a Canadian lawyer who spent much of his professional career at the University of Toronto, has been Penn's provost and chief academic officer since 2005. He will start work at the prestigious Baltimore university and medical center on March 2. President Gutmann has appointed Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs Vincent Price to serve as interim provost while a search for Daniels' successor is conducted.
"I have found Penn and Philadelphia just an immensely warm and supportive community; I just love the spirit of Penn," Daniels said in an interview. "But this is one of those rare opportunities that comes your way very seldom in life."
In a message to the Penn community on Tuesday, President Gutmann wrote, "Johns Hopkins has made a wise choice. Ron is a gifted academic leader, a noted scholar, and an energetic collaborator with a passion for excellence. As Penn's Provost for more than three years, Ron has played a prominent role in advancing our most important institutional priorities, including increasing access to Penn for students from low- and middle-income families, building our interdisciplinary programs, expanding our local and global engagements, and supporting Making History: The Campaign for Penn."
