Frequently cited in news articles, FactCheck.org is nonpartisan and nonprofit and, "aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics." The new Annenberg Public Policy Center building is being built on the old site of Penn Hillel and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2009. Did You Know... that the Philadelphia Phillies, currently chasing a World Series championship, is helmed by David Montgomery, C'68, WG'70, Philadelphia Phillies' President? After graduating with an undergraduate degree in 1968 and an MBA in 1970 from the Wharton School, Dave began his career in the Phillies Sales Office selling season and group tickets. He advanced to positions as marketing director and then director of sales before becoming executive vice president after the 1981 season. Dave is an active Penn alumnus where he served as a trustee. He is a member and past chair of the policy board of WXPN Radio -- 88.5FM, the university's member-supported radio station. He also serves on the university's Board of Overseers of the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

Did you know... that Penn is a host for "The Fiscal Wake-Up Tour," a national series of town-hall forums focusing on the country’s long-term fiscal challenges? Analysts from the Brookings Institution, the Heritage Foundation and others will participate on a panel to be held in the Hall of Flags in Houston Hall. The Fiscal Wake-Up Tour aims to explain in plain terms why budget analysts of diverse perspectives are increasingly alarmed by the nation's fiscal outlook.
The event is co-sponsored by Penn's Political Science Department in the School of Arts and Sciences, the Annenberg School for Communication, the Fels Institute of Government, the Fox Leadership Program, and the Business and Public Policy Department at Wharton.

Did You Know... that Penn Alumnus Neel Kashkari, WG'02, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Economics and Development, is responsible for overseeing the government's $700 Billion Bailout Program? Kashkari was designated on October 6, 2008 to serve as the Interim Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Stability. He oversees the Office of Financial Stability including the troubled Asset Relief Program. Prior to joining the Treasury Department, Kashkari was a Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in San Francisco, where he led Goldman's IT Security Investment Banking practice.

Did You Know... that the University of Pennsylvania has been named one of the top 15 schools in the U.S. and Canada for its sustainability initiatives? The survey of 300 institutions was done by the Sustainable Endowments Institute for its College Sustainability Report Card, www.GreenReportCard.org.
"Penn's high mark on the College Sustainability Report Card reflects our commitment to increasing our environmental sustainability through such measures as wind-energy purchase, carbon reduction, recycling and green building programs," Penn President Amy Gutmann said.

On September 22nd the University held a dedication of the green roof replacement atop Kings Court English House that now features a perimeter of low maintenance, weather resistant greenery surrounding an upgraded patio adjacent to an existing penthouse.
Before this fall semester began Penn and the Fox Leadership Program launched a new program: The PennGreen Initiative, which trained students to lead an environmentally conscious culture on Penn's campus.
