September 26, 2008 Did You Know... that Penn's Law School and Wharton are creating an accelerated three-year JD/MBA program? It is the country's first fully integrated three-year program offered by elite law and business schools. The new program will target potential applicants with typically two years of work experience, especially in finance, who are entrepreneurs or are planning careers in investment banking, private equity and related fields.The three-year J.D./M.B.A. program is expected to enroll about 20 students each year, beginning in September 2009.

Did You Know... that Penn physicist and professor emerita Fay Ajzenberg-Selove will receive the 2007 National Medal of Science? Ajzenberg-Selove, one of eight scientist honorees, joined Penn in 1970 and made significant advances in the field of nuclear physics for decades. Her principal work on understanding light nuclei, the elements of stars, is considered a global reference for physicists old and new. Her research and experimentation continue to apply to energy fusion, carbon dating and nuclear medicine. She will receive her medal, the nation's highest honor for science, at a White House ceremony September 29th.

Did You Know... that Penn students are taking a unique class this fall, "Campaigns and Conventions?" Taught jointly by former congresswoman and lecturer in the Fels Institute of Government Marjorie Margolies, CW'63, and Annenberg lecturer David Eisenhower, the class took the students to both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Included in the group of students that attended were Jen Leventhal, C'10, and Kevin Chang, ENG'10, who were featured in a local news story upon their return to campus. Ashley Gunn, W'10, spoke at the Republican National Convention this week in St. Paul, Minnesota. John Legend, C'99, sang at the Democratic National Convention last week in Colorado.
