Learn about how America's fifth-largest city is addressing these questions with Christopher B. Sample, WEV'03, Director of Community and Governmental Relations in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. Come hear him discuss his career path, his interactions with city officials, and his efforts to emphasize the shared responsibility of both law enforcement and the community itself in making the city a safer place. When was your last visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art? Take advantage of this opportunity to get an insider's view of one of the city's true treasures. Esperanza Altamar, GFA'00, Manager of Community Programs in the Museum's Division of Education, will discuss her experiences cultivating a greater appreciation of art throughout the city of Philadelphia. Come hear about how she and the Division of Education work not only to draw a diverse population to the Museum of Art, but also to give them reasons to return. To reignite your own interest in art, you will then be free to explore the Museum and enjoy original works by some of art's biggest names. Light refreshments will be served.
Immediately after the discussion, Altamar will offer interested attendees a personal group tour of the new exhibit "Gee's Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt," exploring the quilting tradition of a rural African-American community on the Alabama River.
