Dr. Hahn depicts more than 20 years of research, seeking to unearth the true experience of African Americans as they tried to shape their enslavement and their lives beyond it. Dr. Hahn is a professor of history and the author of the Pulitzer Prize winning, "A Nation Under Our Feet."
