Alumni Education :: On Campus

Arts and Culture | Learn more about the thriving arts and culture venues around campus that offer a full slate of exhibitions, performances, public programs and more.

Diversity Alliance Speaker Series | The Penn Alumni Diversity Alliance Speaker Series is designed to expose the Penn community to the rich and varied accomplishments of our graduates. Alumni representing one or more of the Diversity Alliance member organizations return to campus to speak about their areas of professional expertise and their personal experiences. Students, faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to attend.

Continuing Education and Professional Development | For professionals looking to gain knowledge, ideas, and skills in a dynamic learning environment.

Kelly Writers House | Founded in 1995 by a group of students, faculty, staff and alumni, the Kelly Writers House is an actual 13-room house at 3805 Locust Walk on Penn's campus that serves as a center for writers and of all kinds from Penn and the Philadelphia region at large. The Writers House hosts public programs year-round.

  • Programs for Alumni | The Writers House thrives by engaging many talented and energetic alumni. Look here for opportunities to get involved.

Penn Bookstore | The Penn Bookstore features readings, signings and discussions with Penn authors year-round. Events are free and open to the public. View details on these bookstore events. Upcoming events include:

Penn Humanities Forum | The 2008-2009 Academic year is the 10th Anniversary of the Penn Humanities Forum (PHF). The topic will be CHANGE. The PHF is where the public and the academy meet to discuss the importance of the humanities in civic life. Created to promote the "thinking arts" and forge a confederacy between the Philadelphia region and its universities, the Penn Humanities Forum addresses a different theme each year, through lectures, performances, exhibitions and other events open to the public.

Penn Presents: University Square Dinner/Lecture Series | Prior to some performances at the Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, Penn Presents hosts a dinner and stimulating lecture by a Penn faculty member or guest discussing the history, culture, and artistry of the performance to follow.

Penn Reading Project | Now in its 17th year, the Penn Reading Project was designed as a shared intellectual experience for all new students. Each Fall, incoming students attend a lecture and share discussions about a single text.

The selection for the class of 2012 is Neil Shubin's Your Inner Fish. Now at the University of Chicago, Dr. Shubin served on Penn's faculty from 1989 to 2002 and was the first Faculty Master of Hamilton College House (now Rodin College House).
