Philadelphia Museum of Art Tour and Lunch

26th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Custom tour that will highlight women artists and how women have been portrayed in art history. Lunch will feature Anne d'Harnoncourt, The George D. Widener Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Museum, and the first woman to head a major art museum in the United States. A bus will collect Council members at 30th Street Station at 9:30 a.m. and make a stop at the Inn at Penn so bags may be checked. Additional passengers who would like transportation can meet the bus at the Inn at Penn at 10:00 a.m. before it departs for the Museum.The bus will return to the Inn at Penn after lunch.

Title IX Celebration and Beacon Award Ceremony

Student athletes and their coaches will join TCPW members for a reception honoring the 35th Anniversary of the passage of Title IX. The Trustees' Council of Penn Women Beacon Award will be given to TCPW member Marcia D. Greenberger, Esq., CW'67, L'70, Co-President of the National Women's Law Center, in recognition of the work she has done to advance women's rights in athletics. Ellie Daniel, CW'74, a Gold Medal Olympian in 1968 and 1972 will talk about her experiences as a female athlete at Penn.

Continuing the celebration, Steve Bilsky, W'71, Penn's Athletic Director, will talk to Council members about the current state of women's athletics at Penn and how they have been affected by Title IX.

Mark Frazier Lloyd, Director of Penn's Archives, will talk about the current exhibit of Penn Memorabilia on display in the lobby of College Hall. Many of the pieces in the exhibit were donated by TCPW member Susan Molofsky Todres, CW'75, WG'77. Tour will follow.

Dr. Elin Danien, CGS'82, G'89, GR'98, founder of the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship Fund, a program that provides full tuition support to women older than 30 who are earning undergraduate degrees at Penn, will join us on the occasion of the fund's 20th Anniversary to discuss the program and the special relationship it has had with TCPW.
