Welcome Letter
For 50 years we have been coming home to Penn for "The
Game" that great gridiron battle that leads to tailgate parties,
painted bodies, air-borne toast, and a stadium packed with Penn fans
singing, "Hurrah
for the Red and Blue." This year, as we celebrate Homecoming's golden
anniversary, we promise you not only the best of the Penn football tradition
but also at least 50
more reasons to return to campus on November 1 and 2.
Consider it the start of a new Penn tradition. You will have the opportunity
to partake in an interactive presentation with several leading humanities
professors, as well as the chance to attend lectures by experts on a
range of topics including U.S. policy in the Middle East, the latest
developments in the fascinating new field of nanotechnology, and the
evolution of books as material objects. Following the spectacular success
of the Celebration of 125 Years of Women at Penn, our alumnae have put
together a panel of distinguished women that will explore how their
perspectives on career and family have changed over time. And Penn people
from offices across campus are set to engage you in University life
as it is today through special tours, ceremonies, seminars, and celebrations.
Homecoming 2002 will be like no other, redefining what we can expect
from this popular fall tradition. Indeed, there are at least 50 reasons
to come home to Penn, and, for many, it begins with "The Game." Remember,
when you root for the Quakers on the field, you are celebrating more
than football. You are celebrating the Penn way of living, learning,
and serving. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus. |
