Once
again we celebrate Penn authors in this campus-wide series of
events. This year's program takes you into some of Penn's most
exciting locations to experience our thriving writing community
- from fiction, to nonfiction, to film, and everything in between.
Co-sponsored by Penn Alumni, the Black Alumni Society, University
of Pennsylvania Library, University of Pennsylvania Press, the
School of Arts and Sciences, and Kelly Writers House.

Explore the interplay between the Jane Austen classic and the
contemporary phenomenon it inspired with Nancy Shawcross, Adjunct
Professor of English and Curator of Manuscripts for the Annenberg
Rare Book and Manuscript Library. This program is based on Professor
Shawcross' popular Penn course, Out of Hollywood: Literature
to Film.

A CELEBRATION OF ALUMNI WRITERS
Kelly Writers House, 3805 Locust Walk
The celebration features poet Deborah Burnham (G'76, GR'89),
fiction writer and former Writers House Director, Kerry Sherin
Wright (C'87), nonfiction writer and NPR contributor Stefan
Fatsis (C'85), and short-story writer Courtney Zoffness (C'00).
The panel will be moderated by California-based literary agent
Robert Shepherd (C'83,G'83). A catered reception will follow

Based on the book by Buzz Bissinger, C'76

Based upon the best-selling book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author,
Buzz Bissinger, Friday Night Lights
chronicles the 1988 season of the Permian High Panthers of Odessa,
Texas, with football players, coaches, mothers, fathers, fans
and families struggling with ongoing personal conflicts while
the team fights for a state championship. Mr. Bissinger will
introduce this private, opening-weekend screening for Penn alumni.
Ticket price includes popcorn and a beverage. Special thanks

making this screening possible.
