The Chinese Rotunda is the majestic setting of the Penn Museum's Chinese collection. Ninety feet in diameter and soaring 90-feet high, the rotunda is one of the largest unsupported masonry domes in the United States, housing one of the finest collections of monumental Chinese art in the country. The Chinese collection, in large part, comprises donated and purchased art, rather than pieces acquired through Museum expeditions. Based on a graphic novel, the film sets itself in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact with one another through surrogate robots. Art and story are central to native life. Whether through painting, sculpture, pottery, or jewelry, art and artists are central to the daily lives of American Indians. Every Native event, whether powwow or academic conference, is encircled by these representations of our culture. The Association of Native Alumni invites you to enjoy a variety of examples of Indian art and the stories surrounding the art, which will be presented by our native alumni in person and in audio-video format. The presentation will include art from nationally and internationally recognized Indian artists.

The Black Alumni Society will host a conversation with internationally celebrated artist, James E. Dupree (GFA'77), about the significance of the first African-American president to occupy the White House and the impact of this change on the arts and culture community. Dupree will discuss his new exhibition entitled If Not Now, When? This new mixed media project was inspired by the election of Barack Obama. Prints of Dupree's works will be available for purchase and signing.
