PASS welcomes student members from across the university. Individuals with an interest in membership should complete the membership form (PDF) and submit it to pass@dev.upenn.edu and attend an upcoming General Body Meeting.

Leadership / Board Positions

For students interested in taking a leadership role, PASS invites Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors to apply for one or more of the 8 available leadership positions on their Executive Board. View the Election By-Laws (PDF) for more information. See below for detailed descriptions of each position.

ELECTION TIMELINE
  • November 20, 2008: Applications due by 5 p.m. in Sweeten Alumni House or via email (pass@dev.upenn.edu)

  • November 21 thru December 4, 2008: Executive Board reviews applications and interviews candidates

  • December 11, 2008: New executive board members are announced

  • Mid-December, 2008: New Board/Old Board initial meeting

  • January 2009: Elected board members begin new terms

Executive Board Position Descriptions

President
The role of the president is to preside at all general meetings and Executive Board meetings. Coordinate all Society activities, provide leadership, and inspire the membership. Serve as or appoint liaison for Seniors for The Penn Fund, The Penn Fund Executive Board, and Penn Alumni and act as student representative on Penn Alumni Board of Directors, and work with PASS advisor to coordinate activities with Penn Alumni.

Vice President of Administration and Governance
Maintains an accurate record and transcribes minutes promptly of the proceedings of all meetings of the general membership and Executive Board. Maintain database of membership information by tracking attendance at all meetings, events, and retreats. Maintain the active member list-serve and Society's budget. Assure compliance with the Constitution and bylaws.

Vice President of Communication & Marketing
Oversee the maintenance and development of the PASS website as well as other online marketing initiatives, such as publicizing the Constitution, Executive Board information, and the pass@ben.dev.upenn.edu email account and comments section of website, Google calendar, and Facebook fan page, group, and profile. Promote public awareness through the production and creation of the e-newsletter, brochure, flyers, banners, signage, and other advertisements to educate and inform the Penn community of PASS.

Vice President of Alumni Relations & Networking
Oversee the planning and coordination of events, activities, and programs involving alumni, such as Penn Traditions programming, career dinners, mentoring events, Quaker Connections, Shadow Days, Penn Away from Home, Post Penn Perspectives panel, and alumni speakers at general body meetings. Partner with area alumni clubs, the Red and Blue Crew, Association of Alumnae and the Trustees' Council of Penn Women, and Career Services. Manage alumni-visiting program for alumni to meet with students on campus.

Vice President of Outreach
Oversee coordination of liaison partnerships with student groups such as student government, umbrella organizations, and cultural resource centers across all dimensions of student life. Collaborate with partner groups via the PASS Sponsorship Outreach initiative to sponsor activities and programming that involve alumni-student interaction.

Vice President of Social Events
Oversee the coordination of events between the students and alumni of the University through traditional Activities such as Homecoming, Ben's Birthday Bash, Hey Déjà Vu, Spring Fling, Senior Week, and Alumni Weekend. Plan pre-game receptions, finals breaks, Penn sporting events, Clash of the Classes, dinners with professors, and tournaments. Collaborate with the Senior Class Board on Feb Club events and with SPEC on No Place Like Penn.

Vice President of Penn Descendants
Maintain Penn Legacy Database and work with Alumni Council on Admissions to plan information sessions for prospective students. Collaborate with Linking Legacies on events such as the Freshman Legacy Reception, Legacy Send-Off Reception, and Legacy Phone-a-Thon.

Vice President of Membership
Coordinate all membership related functions. Foster interaction among members by developing and promoting social activities for members providing unity and morale. Oversee recruitment of members by planning and coordinating activities and programs such as membership retreats, activities recruitment fairs, Pinning Ceremony, end-of-the-year celebration, Seniors Appreciation, membership appreciation awards and dinner. Manage and update PASS folders, membership application forms.
