How to join a group listserv

University of Pennsylvania alumni are now eligible to begin signing up for their Affinity and Interest Group listservs. This is your opportunity to begin automatically sending messages to -- and receiving messages from -- everyone in your group who has signed up for the listserv.

How can you be sure that you will not get unwanted messages?
That your messages go to your group and no one else?

Because our lists are moderated by Alumni Relations, we will not allow anyone but members of your affinity or interest group to subscribe to the list, and we will not permit inappropriate messages to be sent to the list.

To sign up for your group's listserv, send an e-mail message to listserv@lists.upenn.edu with a blank subject line and the text

subscribe <groupname> <your name>

as the body of the message. Remember:
  • substitute your group, right now either BASPHIL, BASNY, BASDC, BASGENERAL, or LATINOALUM where it says groupname,
  • substitute your own name where is says your name, and
  • please omit the brackets.
For example: if your name is Sally Smith and you are interested in emailing members of the Black Alumni Society's Washington, D.C. chapter, your email to listserv@lists.upenn.edu should have no subject line, and should look like this:

subscribe BASDC Sally Smith

Please note that BASDC does not have spaces in it.
