Penn Club of Silicon Valley

Welcome to the Penn Club of Silicon Valley!

Thank you for visiting the Penn Club of Silicon Valley's website! We are a newly formed club that continues to evolve and diversify to meet the needs of Penn alumni in Silicon Valley. Our focus is principally on San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. We will offer a broad range of activities to new and long-established alumni. To stay up-to-date on club activities, please join our listserv by clicking the link below.

Interested in meeting other alumni from the Penn community? Join us as we launch Spark, a networking tool that connects alumni, fosters mentorship and creates new connections. Once a month, users will be randomly matched with another member of the Penn alumni community and will have the option to meet up for coffee or schedule a phone conversation. This is a great way to meet new alumni from different backgrounds and different industries. We will be kicking off our initial launch on August 1st so please sign up here to join our community!

Beach Habitat Restoration
9:00 AM to 12:00 PMFrancis Beach in Half Moon Bay
Come pitch in at Francis Beach in Half Moon Bay! Enjoy fresh air, good exercise, and a spectacular setting including scenic views of the bay, beach, dunes, and mountains.

Projects focus on removing invasive, non-native plants. Nonnative species are the second largest threat to biodiversity next to direct habitat destruction. In San Mateo County, the coastal scrub plant community has been significantly reduced by agriculture and development. Restoration creates habitat for the native plant species that are at the base of the food chain for coastal wildlife.

Invasive plants are removed by hand or with the use of short-and long-handled gardening tools such as hoes or shovels. Volunteers must be prepared for the following physical activities:
* Bending and squatting at least once a minute for project duration
* Lifting and carrying bundles of vegetation up to 20 lbs

BRING: Long-sleeve shirt and long pants that can get dirty, warm layers, closed toed shoes, refillable water bottle, sunscreen and a hat.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join!
