Projects and Events

Annual Book Awards Project

The Penn Book Award program was developed to recognize outstanding high school juniors, both boys and girls, who exemplify the best characteristics of Benjamin Franklin, the founder of the University.  The purpose of the award is three-fold:

(1) to recognize outstanding students whose individual accomplishments embody the University's highest ideals of scholarship, service, future professional development, and civic contribution.

(2) to encourage those students to consider top tier education in general, and in doing so, spotlight Penn in particular. This simultaneously heightens Penn's profile and awareness in each of their respective schools, among their peers, and with the High Schools' faculty, and staff.

(3) to provide the Association of Alumnae, Penn Regional Clubs, and interested alumni the opportunity to "pay it forward". They can display their Penn affection and pride in High Schools and communities around the country and world, often in schools where they themselves graduated, their children graduated, or that hold a special affection/respect, all by sponsoring the Penn Book Award for an outstanding student, for the modest fee of $50.00.

Annual Scholars Award Dinner & Presentation
Student awards are presented each spring: The Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Awards, the Continuing Education Award, and the Fathers' Trophy as well as the Robert J. Alig Student Leadership Award.

Sophomore & Junior Women Student Event
Annually, past recipients of the Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Awards share their unique academic pursuits for which they used their monetary awards. Students are also joined by staff from the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF), who discuss the services and opportunities offered by their department.

Senior Women Wine & Cheese Event
Each year during Senior Week, the Association of Alumnae along with the Trustees' Council of Penn Women warmly congratulates the senior women of each graduating class to join them at a Wine and Cheese Reception in celebration of their graduation and lifelong membership in the Penn Alumnae community!

Welcome Freshmen Event
Each year in conjunction with New Student Orientation, Association of Alumnae members welcome new freshmen women with an Association of Alumnae logo t-shirt and provide information about the group.
