Winter 2013 Newsletter

A Message from the President: The Celebration Continues!
Welcome to another edition of the Association of Alumnae Newsletter, where we continue our year-long celebration of our 100th anniversary. Read our feature in The Gazette. Take a look at these photos from Homecoming Weekend, including our special halftime presentation during the football game, our serenade by Penn’s all female a cappella group, Quaker Notes, during our tree dedication on College Green, and our lovely reception at Sweeten Alumni House. On your next visit to campus, please take a moment to find our tree and reflect on how far women have come over the last 100 years.

In this issue, learn how some Penn alumnae have kept their connections strong after graduation. Read about “Penn Powerhouse” Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander, ED’18, GR’21, L’27. Be impressed by two student recipients of our research scholarship. Find out what it was like to be in the A of A during its very first year. Our next issue will highlight Penn Alumni regional clubs that have organized events to honor women during this celebration, so watch for it! Meanwhile, sit back, stay warm, and enjoy our winter newsletter.

Julie Diana Hench, LPS ‘08
President, University of Pennsylvania Association of Alumnae

P.S. Are you a member of your Penn Alumni Regional Club? This is one great way for women to be an active, visible part of the Penn alumni family. Reap the benefits of the connections you can make in your own city, and get involved!
