Judaism, Christianity, and Islam were born along the shores of the Mediterranean, and all three drew upon the legacy of the great civilizations that came before them. Aboard Corinthian II explore monuments created by the ancient Greeks in Athens, marvel at the glorious architecture of Greco-Roman landmarks in Ephesus, and visit sites sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims in Jerusalem. On the island of Crete, the vast ruins of Knossos transport you back to the age of myth, and a walk through the Old Town of Rhodes is like stepping back to the era of the Crusades when Greeks, Latins, Jews, and Muslims lived in the same walled city.

PENN LECTURER: Art Caplan is the Emanuel and Robert Hart Professor of Bioethics and is the founding Director of the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania. The Center for Bioethics is a leader in bioethics research and its deployment in the ethical, efficient, and compassionate practice of the life sciences and medicine. Caplan is a frequent guest and commentator on various media outlets concerning issues of bioethics and writes a regular column on bioethics for MSNBC.com. His research interests include transplantation research ethics, genetics, reproductive technologies, health policy, and general bioethics. He is currently the Co-Director of the Joint Council of Europe/United Nations Study on Trafficking in Organs and Body Parts. Discover magazine described him as one of the ten most influential people in science in 2008.
