A master calligrapher will explain his craft and allow you to try your hand at this graceful art. Visit Nara, Japan's first capital, and Todai-ji temple with its famous bronze statue of Buddha. Spend a night at a traditional temple lodge in a Buddhist enclave established 1,200 years ago! Admire traditional houses in Miyama and travel to Kurotani to watch artisans make washi, a delicate Japanese paper, according to centuries-old tradition.
