Journey through the heart of Russia from Moscow to St. Petersburg aboard the first-class river cruiser M.S. Furmanov. From the mysteries of the Kremlin to the treasures of the Hermitage, this nation offers a fascinating history and rich cultural tradition. Begin in Moscow, where highlights include Red Square and the Kremlin. Then explore the tenth-century town of Uglich and the twelfth-century monastery of Yaroslavl, rustic remnants of Old Russia. Wind through the Russian heartland on the Volga, Sheksna, Kovzha, Svir and Neva Rivers, and conclude in St. Petersburg, home of the world-renowned Hermitage Museum, Catherine's Palace with its recently restored Amber Room and Peter the Great's gleaming summer estate at Petrodvorets. Expert-guided tours, educational lectures and cultural activities are provided throughout the program.
