=====================================
Power and conflict are the dynamo of history, a fact readily recalled in famous battlegrounds from Salerno to Ephesus. On this signature Mediterranean cruise aboard the 114-guest, all-suite Corinthian II, we explore sites and events dating from the Persian Wars to World War II that have influenced the march of history and civilization. Guided by our shipboard director and time-honored sources, we sail into the same harbor of Sicily's Syracuse where the Athenians suffered a crushing defeat in the 5th century B.C. Survey the island of Rhodes, and relive some of the most important World War II battles that took place in Italy, Greece, and Turkey.
We will be traveling with alumni from Brown University and Dartmouth College.
Lecturers:
- James Patterson, Emeritus Professor of History at Brown University
- William C. Scott, Professor of Classics at Dartmouth College
