EXHIBITION – KieranTimberlake: Drawn + Quartered

Gallery Talk with Stephen Kieran + James Timberlake
Monday, October 10, 2016
6:00PM-7:30PM (arrive early, seating is limited)

Harvey and Irwin Kroiz Gallery, Architectural Archives
University of Pennsylvania School of Design
220 South 34th Street
Philadelphia

This exhibition highlights twelve formative projects by Stephen Kieran (M.Arch'76) and James Timberlake (M.Arch'77) to celebrate the initial gift of their professional papers to PennDesign’s Architectural Archives. From their first independent works of the mid-1980s to their groundbreaking Loblolly House (completed in 2006), this presentation surveys the role that drawing—as a means of critical reflection and inquiry—has played in developing their design process, particularly during the transition from hand-drawn to digital representation.

Drawn + Quartered is on view in two locations through October 14, 2016. Featured at the Archives’ Kroiz Gallery are over 70 works, including many pre-digital drawings and models. Across town at the firm’s 841 North American Street studio are a selection of full-scale prototypes, mockups, tests, and trials reflecting KieranTimberlake’s current work, including the recently completed Dilworth Park.
