OVERVIEW |
The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE), home to the world’s first advanced degree in education entrepreneurship, debuts its acclaimed curriculum in a new five-day certificate program in San Francisco in Spring 2019. |
Using research on the culture and practice of innovation and rooting our conversations in “journey” stories, this certificate program will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and tools to seed entrepreneurial practice and create impactful and sustainable solutions in education. |
Investigate education’s innovation ecosystem, create an entrepreneurship profile of your institution, establish success metrics, and build a culture of innovation. Discover successful incubators, competitions, innovation centers, degree programs, and tools. Learn ways to manage the forces that work for and against creating and maintaining a culture of innovation. |
Guided by UPenn faculty, experienced entrepreneurs, and education innovators, participants will explore:
|
- Innovation & Entrepreneurship - Assess the entrepreneurial mindset of individuals and teams, create an innovation skills scorecard, and review ways to build your personal and organization’s capacity to innovate.
- The Education Landscape - Explore how data analytics, design thinking, and lean startup tools can help you deepen your understanding of complex problems and design test environments for market-based solutions.
- Practices for Collective Creation - Use team- and project-based pedagogy to explore the latest research. Apply the agile process, an iterative innovative methodology for problem solving, using a series of sprints to generate data-driven validated solutions.
- Journeys - Learn though “field trips” to Silicon Valley education companies and organizations about entrepreneurial experiences: the successes, challenges, and failures. Teams will create their own journey stories and participate in a culminating pitch event.
