Follow the steps below for PennKey support.

Click the drop-down arrows to expand each section.

Attempt to Login
Confirm Your PennKey Username
  • Your PennKey username will typically be a version of your name while at Penn, between 3-8 characters long, and all lowercase.
  • It will not contain special characters like @ or $.
  • If you need to retrieve your PennKey username, please visit "Forgot My PennKey Username" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Password Support
  • Your PennKey password will typically be one of the most complex passwords you use. Please review the “Password Guidelines” in the option below for more information.
  • If you cannot remember your PennKey password, you will need to reset it.
    • If you are not enrolled in the PennKey Recovery Service, you will need to visit PennKey ASAP to reset your password online.
    • Other notes: If you haven't already done so, we recommend enrolling in PennKey Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) when prompted. This will allow you to retrieve your PennKey more easily in the future.
  • IMPORTANT: You may wish to first email us in order to obtain your eight-digit Penn ID number.  To do so, please email alumni-ambassadors@dev.upenn.edu with the following message (completing the all-caps sections in bold):
Hello, my name is FIRST/LAST NAME.  My date of birth is MM/DD/YYYY, and I graduated from Penn in GRAD YEAR.  I am a current member attempting to log onto the Alumni Volunteer Portal.  Can you please send me instructions for resetting my password?  Thank you!
Password Guidelines
  • PennKey passwords are highly secure authentication tools, used by Penn students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Therefore, your PennKey password will typically be the most complex password you use.
  • If you created your password before 8/4/2015, it will likely be eight or more characters long, with a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Beginning on 8/4/2015, PennKey passwords longer than 20 characters may also be entirely lowercase letters, usually as a combination of four random words (e.g., boldaugustpretzelcloud).
  • For more information about PennKey passwords, please review the University's PennKey Password Rules
