Julie Platt is a full time volunteer
fundraiser in Los Angeles and around the country. Earlier in her career,
she served as Vice President, Commercial Banking for Bankers Trust
Company in New York City.
Mrs. Platt is President of the Julie Beren Platt and Marc E. Platt
Foundation, Inc., and Chair of the Advisory Board of Directors of the
Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. She is the immediate Past-Chair of
the Los Angeles Jewish Federation's Women's Campaign and serves on the
Federation Executive Committee as well as the Executive Committee of the
Jewish Federations of North America. She also serves as a member of the
Board of Directors of the Foundation for Jewish Camp.
At Penn, Mrs. Platt is a member of the Boards of Overseers of both the
Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies and Penn Hillel. She serves as
Co-Chair of Penn Hillel's National Board of Governors. She is a member
of the Trustees' Council of Penn Women and the Southern California
Regional Advisory Board as well as a Secondary School Committee Chair in
Los Angeles. Additionally, she serves as Chair of Penn Nursing's Los
Angeles conference, Healthy Cities: Healthy Women. Mrs. Platt and her
husband, Marc Platt (C'79) made a substantial leadership gift to create
the Platt Student Performing Arts House, a home for student performing
arts at Penn. The Platts also created the Julie Beren Platt and Marc
Platt Rehearsal Room in Houston Hall, and established the Marc E. and
Julie B. Platt Endowed Fund in support of the Center for Advanced Judaic
Studies and the Julie Beren Platt and Marc E. Platt Scholarship at the
School of Arts and Sciences. In 2012, Julie and Marc joined the Men and
Women of Pennsylvania Scholarship Fund and funded a new summer school in
Judaic studies for students pursuing doctoral studies in all fields of
Judaic studies. The summer school is a joint program of the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem and Penn's Katz Center.
