Ramanan Raghavendran, EAS'89, W'89, LPS'15

Ramanan Raghavendran is in his 23nd year in venture capital and growth equity, and has led investments in the United States, Canada, Western Europe, India, Singapore and the Philippines. He serves or has served on the boards of public companies listed on the U.S., U.K., Swedish, and Indian stock exchanges. Ramanan's investment interests are concentrated in technology-enabled companies, business services, and the consumer Internet. Most of his investments over the last decade have had a significant international or cross-border component.

Ramanan is the chairman of Amasia, a venture capital firm that invests in cross-border technology companies. Ramanan also serves as managing partner of Kubera Partners. Prior to Kubera, he led the technology services investing effort at TH Lee Putnam Ventures, the growth capital affiliate of the Thomas H. Lee buyout firm, as a Managing Director.He was formerly a Senior Partner at Insight Venture Partners where he invested in enterprise software and services companies. Prior to joining Insight, he was a senior member of the investment team at General Atlantic where he initiated the Internet-related investment effort and also led sector efforts in software and technology services. Ramanan began his career at McKinsey & Company.

Ramanan co-founded and co-managed Impact Partners, the first Indian venture philanthropy fund. Impact provided funds to nine non-profit organizations that today impact 1.5 million lives (primarily underprivileged children). Ramanan is the chairman of the advisory board of Magic Bus, an NGO that assists at-risk children across India; it was incubated in his Mumbai office. He has served on several non-profit boards in India and the U.S. over the last 20 years.

Ramanan is a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania; serves on the Board of Advisors for the School of Arts and Sciences at Penn; serves on the boards of Penn’s two India centers; and chairs alumni interview committees for Penn Admissions.
