About the Awards: 

The Kanter Tritsch Prize and Medal in Architecture

Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Medal Recipient

Established in 2017 by a generous gift from Weitzman School of Design alumna Lori Kanter Tritsch and Penn Trustee and Wharton alumnus William P. Lauder, the Kanter Tritsch Prize is awarded annually to a second-year Master of Architecture student in the form of a $50,000 scholarship, which covers the bulk of tuition and fees in the final year of study. Every year, the Weitzman School of Design also awards a Medal to a practicing architect or architects for leadership in energy and architectural innovation. This year’s medalists is New York-based Diller Scofidio + Renfro led by four partners—Liz Diller, Ricardo Scofidio, Charles Renfro and Benjamin Gilmartin designers of such remarkable buildings as The Shed, The High Line, and United States Olympic and Paraolympic Museum. 

The Witte-Sakamoto Family Prize and Medal in City and Regional Planning

Established in 2018 by a generous gift from Weitzman School of Design alumnus Bill Witte and his wife Keiko Sakamoto, the Witte-Sakamoto Family Prize provides a$50,000 scholarship, awarded annually to a student entering their final year in the Master of City and Regional Planning program, which covers the bulk of tuition and fees in the final year of study. In conjunction with the Prize, the School presents an annual Medal to a firm, team, or professional for an exemplary plan that advances plan-making in at least four of the following areas: social equity, environmental quality, design, public health, mobility, housing affordability, and economic development. This year’s medal is awarded to Hartford400 is a coalition of the region’s major organizations, working together to forge a comprehensive, river-centered vision and action plan.
All proceeds from the event will support student scholarships.

Giving Levels: 

The Semester - $25,000
($19,250 tax deductible)
Support one semester for a Weitzman student studying architecture and city and 
regional planning. 

This level includes 10 tickets and the donor’s name listed in all print materials including 
the program and wayfinding, and all digital marketing materials including a website dedicated to the event and electronic announcements during the event.  

The Studio - $12,500
($7,900 tax deductible)
Support a studio course at the Weitzman School that engages our students in their area 
of focus while preparing them to become tomorrow’s design leaders.

This level includes 8 tickets and the donor’s name listed on limited print and digital marketing materials, including a website dedicated to the event along with electronic event announcements.

The Seminar - $5,000
($2,700 tax deductible)
Support a seminar at the Weitzman School that allows our students the opportunity to interact with world-renowned practitioners in their specialties within the field of design.

This level includes 4 tickets and the donor’s name listed in up to two print and digital marketing materials, including a website dedicated to the event along with electronic 
event announcements.

The Lecture- $2,500
($1,350 tax deductible)
Support a guest lecture at the Weitzman School that allows our students the opportunity 
to hear from and meet with world-renowned practitioners.

This level includes 2 tickets and the donor’s name listed on the website dedicated to
the event.

Supporter (Individual ticket) - $750

*Each ticket consists of access to the Awards ceremony and a cocktail reception and dinner.


Please plan to arrive early. Based on the latest CDC guidance, face coverings are not required indoors in public and shared spaces, but are encouraged.

Entry to The Shed is available both through the main lobby entrance on W 30th Street, and through the rear entrance on Hudson Boulevard.
